Situated on a hill near the Haw River, Cane Creek, and a five acre spring-fed pond, Three Waters Farm looks out over a mixed terrain of fields and woods. Our twenty-two acres encompasses the original heart of a well loved homestead, including the farmhouse, barn and chicken coop, as well as three of the original old-time apple trees. We are located in north central North Carolina in the unincorporated township of Eli Whitney in rural southeastern Alamance County.
We moved here in 1989, with the intent to raise our family on a working homestead. Initially we sold a mix of vegetables, fruits, flowers, goat cheese and baked goods at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market and to local restaurants. As our children grew we shifted our focus and now concentrate on an ever-increasing flock of sheep and herd of goats and the wool and mohair they produce. We use a rotational grazing system of pasture management to raise the animals in the healthiest and most sustainable way possible. Not surprisingly, this system produces a lustrous fleece. We use this fleece in all our products. Our fiber is dyed, spun, sewn, and woven by us. A family owned carding mill in Pennsylvania makes felt for us from our dyed fleeces. Our Goat's Milk Soap is handmade here on our farm with high quality vegetable oils, loads of sweet creamy goat's milk from our dairy goats, and scented only with pure essential oils.
